Trees filter our air and produce oxygen. They are therefore not called “the green lungs of the earth” for nothing. We couldn't live without them, but neither could we live without our human lungs. The Barmer GEK lung tree, which was awarded the “red dot award” and was installed in Hamburg in 2011, symbolizes a human smoker’s lung, decorated with black Styrofoam balls.
But don't worry: the moral finger will not be raised and there will be no long lectures about the negative effects of smoking. Instead, together with the Barmer GEK, we want to encourage you to deal with the topic of health creatively and in teamwork. There is also a reward, because in addition to vouchers for free music downloads, the teams with the “most beautiful”, the “most original” and the “largest” tree will each receive a €2,000 prize. Find your fellow participants, decorate your tree and register for the competition. Do you have a better idea for depicting the “lung tree”? Bring it on! Or do you want to visualize healthy lung branches? Then decorate your “vital tree” for us. The most likes decide whether you make it to the final, and the three winners are ultimately chosen by a jury.
Registration, publication of the pictures as well as all news and deadlines can be found on the homepage of our partner Barmer GEK www.barmer-gek.de/lungenbaum (respectful treatment of one another is important, which is why you are referred to as “you” on the Barmer GEK homepage). address).
