The city of Würselen actually exists. It is part of the Aachen city region and there is probably no one who associates the place with football - not even with studying. Things have changed since last week. Because Würselen is already qualified for Brazil 2014, in the form of the company Goalcontrol . It is equipping all World Cup stadiums with the new goal line technology, which is intended to make a second Wembley or Bloemfontein - where the German selection won 4-1 against England in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup and a goal by the English was disallowed - impossible.
The new goal line technology mastered the first test brilliantly at the last Confed Cup and, especially in the game for third place, ensured clear conditions and a justified Italian victory. The system, in which cameras capture the position of the ball at all times, reliably shows the referee every goal. In Germany it will be introduced – if at all – in the 2014/2015 Bundesliga season at the earliest. Until then, we can continue to argue about whether it's in or not. There is no argument about sports outfits. We're really into sports and are already equipping ourselves!
