Sensitive, strange, amusing and sad at the same time, she paints a sensitive family portrait and creates a universal story about love, loss and tolerance against the impressive backdrop of Israel. We are giving away a total of two free tickets for the cinema release of THE ROOTS OF HAPPINESS on September 5th. The story
New York doctor Harry Rosenmerck (James Caan) has always been a bit stubborn. Now he turns his family's already messed up emotional life upside down: He leaves his previous life behind to breed pigs in the Holy Land. A step that causes serious unrest in the religious harmony of his new community and in the local Rabbi Moshe (Tom Hollander). Pigs on consecrated ground! Meanwhile, in New York, Harry's ex-wife Monica (Rosanna Arquette) is trying to hold the tense threads together with daughter Annabelle (Efrat Dor) and son David (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Not an easy task and it is becoming increasingly obvious: it is time for the Rosenmercks to finally speak out.
