Black Friday and Cyber Monday are terms that are constantly being thrown around your ears at the moment. But where does that come from? Did this happen before and does it actually have any effect?
What a turkey has to do with your next iPhone
As the names suggest, these two names come from English-speaking countries and, like Coca Cola, Britney Spears and Starbucks, from the USA. Black Friday takes place every year immediately after Thanksgiving and falls on the fourth Thursday in November. So after everyone has stuffed themselves with turkey and sweet potatoes, the Americans go shopping together. This is part of the family weekend and the first Christmas presents are already being shopped here .
The retailers and stores thought, why don't we reward our dear shoppers and give them a discount for this nationwide shopping day and perhaps lure even those who don't like shopping off the sofa. Said and done!
Since online retailers were of course not interested in giving traditional countries all of the Christmas money, they invented Cyber Monday. It now always falls on the Monday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
Of course, the rest of the world didn't want to miss out on the big discounts on iPhones etc. and so this madness is now also available in Europe and Germany.

So now you know that Black Friday isn't just for those who burned Thanksgiving dinner and both days were invented by industry and retail. But why is it called Shopping Madness?
Well, the shopping spree usually starts shortly after midnight, with excessive shopping and heavy shopping . It also happens that crazy people camp out in front of the shops or small dirty fights break out. So be warned!
