Small and large things from the gaming present and future
Nice gesture
Mouse and keyboard, wow like 90s! That's what three young computer scientists from Texas thought and developed Gest, a wearable for gesture control. Hand and finger movements such as twitching, turning, gripping or swiping make navigation - for example through a computer game - even more immediate.
Available from November 2016, gest.co, approx. 180 €.
It doesn't get any more real
Tech circles predict that 2016 will be the year of breakthrough for virtual and augmented reality systems. Such glasses or headsets create virtual 3D worlds and thus make the gaming experience even more intense. The VR glasses Oculus Rift (oculus.com, approx. €700) can already be pre-ordered, while the HoloLens from Microsoft is still eagerly awaited (microsoft.com/microsoft-hololens, expensive: approx. €2,700). Binge gaming
Game junkies should probably best plan to purchase the new Nvidia Shield Android TV box during the semester break, because it will take time... If you subscribe to GeForce NOW, numerous PC games can be streamed from the cloud - à la Netflix. Shield games can also be played on the large TV screen.

Virtual playpen
Ok, admittedly, it looks really stupid somehow, how you - with the virtual reality glasses on your nose - are bumbling around in this strange "fenced" platform, seemingly without any sense or reason. But that's not the case, because the VR "playpen" Virtuix Omni translates real movements into virtual ones. Jumping, running, turning, everything takes place simultaneously in the game.

Warm up
If your hands are cold, your reaction speed feels slower. Fatal, because every millisecond is fought for at the trigger. Hand warmers or so-called thermal pads, which work by means of a chemical reaction, can help.

Good seat – good game
Whether you're an e-sports professional or a hobby gamer, you sit a lot and for long periods of time. A gaming chair with a freely adjustable backrest, intuitive rocking mechanism and individually adjustable armrests should therefore definitely be part of the equipment. Chairs from Akracing's Prime series, for example, were top in the test and not too expensive.

If you like to play games on the sofa, the Couchmaster might be the perfect gadget. The thing consists of two soft “blocks” that you place on the left and right of you on the couch and a support board for the keyboard and mouse.
