GradeView; Well, how good am I?

Initially, they had to get their fellow students to test a prototype of their web app with candy bars. 23,000 students now use GradeView to compare grades and Jonas Menk and Max Weber have become two real entrepreneurs. Your founding idea sounds as simple as it is ingenious: an application that allows you to manage your grades online and, if necessary, compare them with those of other students. Before the brilliant idea occurred to him, Max had organized the grades and corresponding credit points from his business studies in an Excel overview. »This is a component that provided the impetus for the development of the app. “I was also interested in what grades the others got when I was in elementary school,” says Max. Apparently many students feel the same way as him: the feedback on the app at Max’s university in Passau was so positive that the founding of GradeView took place four months later, in February 2013. Max took the step into self-employment with his former school friend Jonas, a mechanical engineer who takes care of web development. The support from the Entrepreneurship Center at LMU Munich also helped them to successfully advance the company. Jonas and Max now work full-time in their startup and are supported by interns and freelancers. In addition to grades, GradeView users can also anonymously enter their internships and stays abroad, compare them with others and view targeted internship and job offers from companies. This is particularly interesting for students of economics and technology - they make up the majority of users. Max can understand the reservations about his app, such as the fact that it requires pressure to perform, "but people who want to avoid that don't register." Advice from convinced users, on the other hand, helps to continually develop the functionality of the app. Jonas and Max are currently working on designing an interface to the university's grade management system: "Then you could simply transfer the grades at the push of a button."
