The radio contribution

The broadcasting fee serves to secure the financial security of public broadcasting and is run and managed by ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio.

With the new regulation, since the beginning of 2013, every household is obliged to pay a broadcasting fee. This means that the amount is not billed based on the individual, but rather the residential unit as such is decisive. Regardless of whether you live with four people or alone, you have to pay a total amount per apartment.

TIP:

If you receive training allowance/vocational training allowance as a student or as a trainee, you can be exempt from paying contributions. Important to know: The exemption is personal. If you are exempt from paying the broadcasting fee, this does not mean that the apartment is exempt from paying the contribution, only the individual is exempt from paying - but not the household. If there are other people in the household, they may be required to pay the amount.

You can find the corresponding link for the exemption here .
